Howard Injury Doubt

by Danny Wright

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is an injury doubt for Saturday's home game with Manchester United after he dislocated a finger on international duty.

Howard picked up the injury on Sunday playing in the USA's 4-2 defeat to Brazil in Chicago, but still continued to play and complete the full 90 minutes.

He told evertonfc.com ""It was pretty sore. I just tried to play through it, and hoped that the adrenaline would get me through it."

The 28-year-old will now be assessed by the club's doctors to see if he will be fit to face his former club, with new-signing Stefan Wessels and youngsters Iain Turner and John Ruddy on hand to deputize should Howard not be available for the clash.

"You know to be honest, you know how it is when you travel with injuries right now, it's swollen like a balloon, and I'm hoping that the flight doesn't take too much out of it. I'll see the doctors when I get back."
