A quiet night for Kelvin Davis at St Mary's?

By Martin Sanders

This was my first game of football i have seen in a few weeks now, Southampton V Birmingham and what a game it was. Where do you start to talk about a game that everything.

For Saints fans, was it a good win over one of the fancied teams that shows Saints are now among the promotion contenders? they almost surrendered a three-goal lead - and not for the first time!

With Chris Baird having just inadvertently flicked Radhi Jaidi's header into his own net to make the score 4-3 with only stoppage time left and Saints having earlier led 3-0, tensions were more than high at St Mary's for the last Minutes of this game.

Baird and Davis came to blows and had to be pulled apart by team-mates after the Blues had made the score 4-3. The pair were at each other's throats. They escaped punishment from the referee

Southampton boss George Burley admitted to BBC Sport that he had to read the riot act to defender Chris Baird and keeper Kelvin Davis after Saints' win over Birmingham.

"When you're 3-0 up and then 4-3 and just conceded a goal it was an emotional game, but they're best of friends in the dressing room.

What i night of football. i went home a happy chappy that's 6 unbeaten for my team now!!!! Could be be in the mix come May we will need to be with it worth over £25 million to get back in the Premier League!
