Robinson Speculation Grows

By Danny Wright

Axed Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has been making the headlines this weekend as he has been linked with moves away from the London club following his demotion to the bench for Wednesday's Carling Cup Semi-final at Arsenal .

Robinson cut a grim figure on the Emirates dug out, new manager Jaunde Ramos preferring to start with Radek Cerny in goal. The axed keeper also refused to partake in the teams warm up for the clash.

The decision has fuelled speculation Robinson will leave the club, the England stopper coming under scrutiny for a series of errors throughout the season, the latest of which saw him carry a Stephen Hunt free-kick over his own goal line in last week's 2-2 draw against Reading.

According to the Daily Mail, the 28-year-old demanded a move away from White Hart Lane following talks with club officials in the aftermath of the 1-1 draw against the Gunners, meanwhile the Independent reported that Robinson has been told he can leave the club by Ramos, as long as Spurs receive £5m for his services.

The Sun also reported that West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green has been lined up to replace Robinson should he leave the club, with the Hammers wanting £6m for the former Norwich man.

Radek Cerny started in Spurs 2-0 defeat to Chelsea today, and performed admirably, making a couple of great saves to keep his side in the match. Should Robinson exit Tottenham, Ramos has prodigy Tommy Forecast on the books to provide cover for Cerny, the academy graduate touted as a future England international.
