Green doesn't make England Cut

by Danny Wright

West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green has been left out of the England squad for their crunch Euro 2008 qualifier with Croatia on November 21st.

England must beat the Croats at Wembley and hope Russia slip up in Isreal and Andorra five days earlier if they are to qualify for next summer's tournament.

Green had been hoping for a call to the national side after finding some good form with the Hammers, however Steve McClaren has overlooked the former Norwich man - choosing regulars Paul Robinson, Scott Carson and David James instead.

This will no doubt frustrate Green who recently lifted the lid on his omission from the England fold.

He told the People: “I don't think that I've played any better than I have been. I've played worse and been in the team,"

"It's difficult to understand why I'm not involved in the England set-up or even had a look in at all - I find that a bit harsh.” he added.

England squad: Robinson, Carson, James, P Neville, Campbell, Richards, Brown, Lescott, Shorey, Bridge, A Cole, Beckham, Wright-Phillips, Bentley, Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves, Barry, J Cole, Downing, Young, Smith, Crouch, Defoe, Owen
