Penalty Kings!

By Martin Sanders

This weekend was a fantastic weekend for two of our customers here great-save.com.

We would like to congratulate our good customer and friend Joe McCormack who playing in a 2nd leg semi final was spot on for AFC Totton in the FA Vase. McCormack who is regular customer and wears our great-save.com SMU Sells Contour Supersoft Roll saved two penalties and help take his side to the new Wembley Stadium for the final. The Wessex Premier League leaders came from behind and won a dramatic penalty shoot-out 5 - 4 in the second leg of their semi-final at Billingham Synthonia.

AFC Totton had lost the first leg 2 - 1 at home last Saturday when their Northern League opponents scored a late goal. McCormack, who lives in East Cowes Isle of Wight near the home of great-save.com, was a substitute in the first leg but was in Totton's starting lineup for the second leg. The Hampshire club scored in the opening minutes to draw level on aggregate and seemed on course for victory when they scored again in the last ten minutes. However, Billingham Synthonia found the net in the final moments of the second half. The match finished 2 - 1 to AFC Totton and 3 - 3 on aggregate after extra-time during which McCormack saved his first penalty.

In the penalty shoot-out, Totton scored all five of their penalties with Joe McCormack saving one of Billingham's spot kicks.

Joe McCormack told great-save.com " i wasn't too worried when the game went to penalties: it's a no lose situation when you're a goalkeeper with penalties. I was a bit disappointed I didn't save more to be honest. I guessed a bit early on the others so I just thought I'd stand up for a little bit longer and made a good save, it was going in the bottom corner." Let's hope i can now put in some great performances and keep my place for the final at the new Wembley Stadium on Sunday 13 May.

We all wish Joe the very best in the final in May.

Another great-save customer who saved a Penalty and had a great game was Southampton's Bartosz Bialkowski who kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty as Saints thrashed Wolves 6.0 at Molinuex.

The win sees Saints climb to within 3 points of the playoffs in the Coca Cola Championship.
