Blades swoop for keeper Bennett

Premiership new boys Sheffield United have completed the signing of Leeds goalkeeper Ian Bennett.

The 34-year-old former Birmingham stopper, who has joined for an undisclosed fee, will be understudy to Paddy Kenny next season.

Bennett joined Leeds from Birmingham on a free transfer last year but only made four appearances.

His signing is the second by the Blades from Leeds this summer, following the capture of Rob Hulse earlier this week.

United manager Neil Warnock could also sign former Nottingham Forest and Norwich keeper Darren Ward after his trial with the club.
